History

Barnsley Writers was started in response to the dearth of good writer support groups in the Barnsley area. Most existing groups were expensive and led to qualifications that many people didn't want the stress of taking. It meets every week and aims to encourage and support people from all walks of life to write.

Members of the group can read their work and get constructive feedback in a supportive environment. The group also aims to generate opportunities for people to showcase their writing through community events etc.
